Line Art - Metal Gear Rising - Revengenance


Here I made random stylized illustrations of iconic characters from the action game "Metal Gear Rising: Revengenance" using Blender's Grease pencil suite. I made two of these illustrations for custom map in a rhythm game called osu! The map features the soundtrack "A stranger I remain" by Jamie Christopherson, which is the OST for one of the boss fights.

These illustrations are not super technical. I created a simple 4-layer setup and built on top of a rough sketch.
The "Layer" layer is the basis of the actual line art. The "Lighting" layer is used mainly for the post process tint effect I smeared over parts of each character. The "Fills" layer goes mostly unused as there was no coloring involved, except for maybe filling in some of the whitespaces of the orb silhouettes in the background of the Mistral illustration.
As evidenced, my artstyle for this sample involved using a monochromatic approach where I incorporate a single colour for effects and highlights (This is similar to my comic illustration except with the added specular tint effect).
